What is archive?
In terms of satellite data archive refers to images that have already been collected by the satellite.
There are two ways in which archive images are collected.
The first is through passive collection by satellite such as planet scope which collects on a continuous basis, collecting everyday or every week.
The second is through previously tasked imagery from other customers. In this case, those images are listed in the imagery provider's catalogue for users to purchase and download.
