We've received our newest dual swords, Dual Keres Prime, with Khora's Prime Access. They are obviously powerful, but are they stronger than Nami Skyla Prime? The three pillars of busted melee, Glaive Prime, Kronen Prime and Nami Skyla Prime have stood uncontested in their categories for years at this point. But Kronen was recently rivaled by Praedos, our newest Tonfas from the Angels of the Zariman expansion. Has Nami finally found its competitor?
In truth, Dual Keres performs extremely similar to Nami Skyla in endurance situations, where every little piece of DPS matters. Enough stats to perform similar, but different enough to have separate identities. Nami is just a tiny bit faster as a weapon itself, which lends itself to smoother gameplay, but also means its easier to overcommit on killing an already-dead enemy. For basic gameplay, and especially early-game where you may lack mods, Nami is certainly the better weapon. This is due to status and slash being more important than crits before you are able to reach 100% critical chance.
However, what happens when you look at finished, endgame builds? The whole scenery changes, and their different identities are revealed. Nami Skyla still reigns king at base Steel Path if armor is in play; the faster bleeds when you only need a few slash ticks means Nami will consistently kill faster than Keres. But against armored? Where Slash isn't even needed? Keres' is massively stronger than Nami in that department and rips enemies apart with ease. Even in Endurance, so long as armor isn't a factor, Keres easily surpasses Nami. These include unarmored enemies, Corpus units, and Infested. But for armored endurance? They are literally equal. Within 1% DPS of each other according to mutuals' calculations, and within 5% according to my slightly flawed calculations. At that point, it's fashion frame that matters more, and that depends on your frame. Cheers!
