The children of Thailand are making clothes for Britain's high street stores. They may work 15 hours a day, for seven days a week for only 24 pence a day. Big-name British firms sell such goods at three to five times their cost of manufacture. Meanwhile our own clothing industry feels the effect of this competition and in the last eight years employment has been cut by a third. This World in Action programme shows film secretly shot in Bangkok of the appalling sweat shops, and questions the morality of the well-known companies involved in this trade. It was programmes such as this which gave impetus to the Fair Trade movement.
