In this new Spanish learning video, we will explore an exciting story that will help you learn Spanish as you follow the journey of a man who discovers that his laptop has been stolen on the train.

Throughout the dialogue between the man, the thief and a police officer, you will learn key vocabulary and grammatical structures important for everyday situations in Spanish.

Key phrases and grammatical structures:

"Oh no, where's my laptop?": Use of the interrogative pronoun "dónde" to ask about location.

"Has anyone seen who took my laptop?": Use of the past perfect compound tense to express a recent action.

"Necesito su ayuda": Use of the verb necesitar in the first person singular with the possessive pronoun "su" to express a request for help.

"I got you!": Use of the personal pronoun "te" with the verb "tener" to indicate possession.
"Let's go": Use of the imperative to express an invitation or suggestion.

"I can hear it ringing around that area": Use of the modal verb "can" followed by an infinitive to express ability or capacity.

"I'm afraid it's too late for apologies": Use of the verb temer followed by an infinitive to express an assumption or conclusion.

"You are under arrest for theft": Use of the present indicative to express a current action.
"It is against protocol but I will make an exception this time' means that the action being considered does not follow the usual rules or procedures established by an organisation or authority. In this case, the police officer recognises that accompanying the man to retrieve his laptop is not what would generally be done according to police rules or guidelines, but is willing to make an exception this time. This implies that the officer is willing to do something out of the ordinary because of particular circumstances or out of special consideration for the man's situation.
