LAST DAY OF KAMCHA KOLBAEV
Kamchy Kolbaev, a known thief in law, was killed during a special operation in the center of Bishkek. According to the special services, Kolbaev offered armed resistance, which resulted in a return fire. According to those close to the thief-in-law, he never carried a weapon.
Kolbayev was reportedly charged with forming an organized criminal group, illegal arms trafficking and attempted murder. Kolbaev was one of the most prominent criminal authorities in Kyrgyzstan and was considered one of the leaders of local organized crime. In the nineties, he was convicted of murdering two people and attempted murder of a third. He was sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. At the beginning of the year two thousand and six, Kamchićı́ was transferred to a penal colony, from which he escaped, adding an escape charge to his case. After his release, he became one of the most influential criminal authorities in Kyrgyzstan and was linked to many major criminal cases in the country.
