As a cover, I sewed a cotton jersey top. Probably the simplest thing is to buy a ready-made white T-shirt, cut off the sleeves and cut the neckline to fit the tunic, then put the T-shirt into the tunic, join the necklines and trim it.
I sewed my tunic with a linen stitch with thin Gutermann and Madeira threads, despite the fact that they are intended for embroidery, not a single seam has torn in three years.
