The Use of Video and Social Media in Psychotherapy and Psycho-education
Presenter: Dr. Ehsan Gharadjedaghi
Description:
By 2020—just five years from now—the majority of educators and healthcare providers will no longer be able to continue their businesses or professions if they don’t have a solid virtual property in cyberspace. A “solid virtual property” is a 21st-century-compatible professional identity consisting of online social media profiles and pages, a responsive website, a smartphone technology with useful apps installed (that interact with the previously mentioned), blogs, online lecture or therapy videos, online webinars, online insurance billing, online appointment-setting services, and the means to connect to their clients via online video conferencing, such as Skype or Google Hangouts.
In this lecture, Dr. Ehsan Gharadjedaghi, the founder of TherapyCable.com, entrepreneur and clinical psychologist, will highlight ways you as an educator and/or healthcare provider can help overcome barriers to access to mental health in this online, media-focused society. You will become aware of pitfalls and obstacles in learning the business side of the journey of online therapy video-making, and learn about the solutions that are available for you to help you make your mark in this upcoming technology-focused healthcare paradigm shift. It can mean the difference between success and failure for your profession.
Learning Objectives:
• How technology can accelerate efforts to overcome barriers of access to therapy including stigma, permission, affordability, time, distance and mismatch
• The paradigm shift: How technology is changing the traditional ways of delivering education, knowledge and skills, and what pitfalls and obstacles face educators and healthcare providers in coming onboard with today’s technology
• Why video technology specifically plays such a significant role in this paradigm shift
• The solutions that are available for educators and healthcare providers to make this shift as smoothly as possible
• How the landscape regarding the stigmatization and solutions for online gaming addiction is changing
