DIY web camera with microphone
DIY web camera without microphone is half useful.
That was not strait-forward to re-use the microphone and camera from the old laptop. And making them work as a USB microphone and USB camera.
Old laptops have analog microphones and 5-volt USB cameras. But new camera modules on laptops have digital MEMS PDM microphones with I2S output and 3.3 volts.
Camera and microphone modules in these video CN-07YYTT, 07YYTT:

For the camera, I used diode 1N4007.
And for the microphone I used Raspberry Pi Pico and this project on GitHub:
