How to change the audio pitch of a video | Lower & heighten soundtrack | Sound transformation AFX
Today, we show how to change the audio pitch of a video. This technique allows to shift the pitch higher or lower to heighten / lower the audio soundtrack as required to hit those high or low tones. All parameters shown can be of course fully customized to suit your needs. Enjoy!

❶ Lowering the audio pitch of the soundtrack:
→ ffmpeg -y -i input.mp4 -af asetrate=48000*0.6,aresample=48000 output01.mp4
with:
ffmpeg = Calls Ffmpeg, a free video / audio handling software to …
-i input.mp4 = … read file «input.mp4» and …
-af = … calls a series of audio filters (af)…
asetrate = … changing the speed and pitch of the audio soundtrack…
48000*0.6 = … to 60% of its original value (i.e. lowering it)… note: 48000 is the audio sampling value of the video (equivallent to 48kHz = 48000 Hz). Adapt this value to one that fits your video specifications
aresample = … and resampling the audio soundtrack…
48000 = … to its original 48kHz value…
output01.mp4 = … and outputs the result to file «output01.mp4»
Note: the audio is now out of sync…. We just need a little addition that we show below:
→ ffmpeg -y -i input.mp4 -af asetrate=48000*0.6,aresample=48000,atempo=1/0.6 output01b.mp4
All same as example 1 before, but with:
atempo=1/0.6 = … adjusts the audio tempo this time to compensate for the 60% speed adjustment…
output01b.mp4 = … and outputs the result to file «output01b.mp4»
❷ Heightening the audio pitch of the soundtrack
→ ffmpeg -y -i input.mp4 -af asetrate=48000*1.6,aresample=48000,atempo=1/1.6 output02.mp4
with:
ffmpeg = Calls Ffmpeg, a free video / audio handling software to …
-i input.mp4 = … read file «input.mp4» and …
-af = … calls a series of audio filters (af)…

48000*1.6 = … to 160% of its original value (i.e. heightening it)… note: 48000 is the audio sampling value of the video (equivallent to 48kHz = 48000 Hz). Adapt this value to one that fits your video specifications
