Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Playthrough (Direct DS Capture) - Part 15
This is part 15 of my capture of me playing through Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the DS. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my New 3DS XL using the aftermarket capture kit manufactured by Katsukity and installed/sold by Merki.
In this final part I found the two Lions of Fo statues and completed the two bonus missions for Xin Shan: Deadly Xin and Xin of the Father.
After you complete the final main mission in this game (Salt in the Wound) you receive an anonymous email telling you to find two Lions of Fo statues. The statues are located in two random spots out of the 20 swirling blue locations on the map. However, the game seems to determine the random locations only once, so if you keep rebooting your save file, the locations won’t change. This is how I obtained the statues so quickly. I already knew where they were located.
Once you obtain the statues, you have the opportunity to unlock two bonus missions by connecting your game to Rockstar’s Social Club website. Or at least, you used to have that ability. Even though the Social Club website still exists, it apparently no longer allows you connect your copy of Chinatown Wars to receive the code for unlocking the Xin Shan missions.
Luckily, I had already unlocked these bonus missions on my main save file back around 2009, so after I found the Lions of Fo, I simply loaded my main save file and replayed the bonus missions using the white board’s time trial feature. I also showed the emails you receive from Xin Shan regarding the missions.
Although the missions are fun (especially the tank rampage), I don’t know why Rockstar required all these additional steps just two unlock two short bonus missions. It seems unnecessarily complicated, and now people can’t even unlock these missions anymore. But in any event, I wanted to show the missions for the original Nintendo DS version of the game, so here they are.
