Welcome to a Translice Slide Lesson from Pixel Film Studios.
Tran-slice Slide is a transition package containing up to 30 screen splitting transition presets made exclusively for final cut pro x. Simply drag and drop a preset in between two video clips, adjust the duration and Tran-Slice will do the rest.
______________
TIMELINE
Let’s begin by dragging our footage into the FCPX timeline.
Before adding a transition in between our footage we will need to adjust the length both clips.
In order to lengthen out our transition preset we need to give the preset enough footage to transition from.
We will start with our first clip.
Go to the end of the clip and adjust the length of it by dragging it backwards.
After we will adjust the length of the second clip.
Go to the beginning of the second clip and drag the length backwards as well.
Now that we have our clips adjusted move the two back together.
________________
Once you have done that go the FCPX transition library and locate TranSlice Slide.
Browse through the variety of transition presets.
For this example we will be using the Left Text Preset.
Click and drag the transition in between your footage.
Select it and go to the inspector window.
________________
Let’s start with the Text Controls.
First is the Slice Position slider.
This will determine how far the slice will slide across the screen before holding so the text can appear.
For this example we will be keeping it at one hundred.
After we can decide whether we want our text to fade in or out by selecting the desired check boxes.
In this example we will be selecting both of them.
Next we can start putting our text in the main title, subtitle and additional check boxes.
______________
Once we have all of our text we have the option of changing color, font, size as well as tracking.
When making these adjustments you will want to keep two things in mind.
One is Readability and two is style.
Make sure you are making the best adjustments for the footage you are portraying.
After you are done making the font adjustments we have the ability to change the line color, length, width and position.
For this example we will be choosing a line color that compliments our footage.
Doing this will draw the attention of our viewers straight to the text making it now the most important thing on screen.
We will be making minor adjustments to the line length, width and position as well.
______________
Now for some final touches.
In the background controls we have full control over tint color, the tint blend mode and the blur amount.
Any adjustments made in this section will help make your text stand out even more.
We will be keeping our tint color the same but will be changing our tint blend mode to hard light.
For our particular footage the hard light blend mode matches the style we want and it also makes our text stand out even more.
Lastly we will be making slight adjustments to tint opacity and blur amount.
These adjustments will vary based on your footage.
