In this talk, I'll share our journey of updating React Native from version 0.60 to 0.73. Some of the challenges we were aware of some not. Ranging from updates in dependencies to the implementation of a new permissions API, we knew it will be fun. I recall a moment of caution with the board, where I mentioned, 'Worst case scenario? We might need to completely rebuild our app.' In this presentation, not only will I uncover how we overcame these obstacles, but also share the essential lessons learned along the way. Attendees will gain insights into the significant changes that occurred in React Native over this five-year period and tools that are available to help them. You will embark on a journey through our experiences, observing the uncertainties and challenges we navigated, all from the comfort and safety of your seat.
