In today's digital workspace, end users often interact with numerous web applications on a daily basis. Managing all these applications can quickly become complex for both the user and IT. This video discusses the goal of creating a unified portal through Single Sign-On (SSO) and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), simplifying access for end users and management for IT.
The unified portal is designed to display only the applications a specific user has access to, minimizing clutter and confusion. Users can also request additional applications through a self-service process, further enhancing usability.
The video also addresses a crucial security concern: password sharing across different sites. Many users resort to using the same password for multiple applications, compromising security. By implementing SSO with Azure AD, users are no longer reliant on password-based authentication. Instead, Azure AD provides signed assertions to each application through certificate-based authentication.
