Smallrig has made quite a splash with its new Pocket V-mount battery, the Smallrig VB212. Its key feature is its capacity of 212 Wh, with a maximum power output of 212 Watts. This means it can deliver huge discharge currents, essentially discharging in 1 hour. This is achieved thanks to 12 LG 21700 cells.
But Smallrig didn't stop there and decided to do something that no one has done before. They equipped the battery with two D-Tap outputs, two DC outputs at 8 and 12 Volts, and two Type-C inputs/outputs with PD3.1 and a power output of 140 Watts. Additionally, the battery can be charged via the same PD 3.1 protocol with a charging power of 140 Watts.
The battery itself is built on an aluminum chassis and features a large screen that displays the power and voltage for each output, as well as the total power consumption and remaining runtime. In short, this is the most advanced battery on the market today.
Smallrig has also introduced updated NP-F 970 batteries, now featuring a screen and increased power for both input and output. The Type-C port now offers 36 Watts of power. Smallrig also improved the durability of the casing, as their previous casings could not withstand drops and even cracked on their own due to internal stresses.
