Founded in 1915 by Ernest Bateman Black and Nathan Thomas Veatch with 12 employees, the company now provides energy, telecommunications and water solutions in more than 100 countries. The ways we live change every time the earth spins, but the hows and whys remain.
We aren’t here to start changing the world. We’re here to keep changing it. To continue what we set out to do 100 years ago.

That mission, our mission has never changed. We are in the business of answers, and impact
Of solutions, built to last and last.
To continue to be right as the days, months and years pass. To fit a growing world while inspiring that world to keep growing.
And every solution starts with a sketch, an idea. It’s on the page or the screen in two dimensions, then rises into the world in three.
And as the years pass our solutions make a lasting impact in the fourth dimension. Time.
What started as a few projects in the Midwest a century ago came to have a worldwide impact. We’ve increased our reach across business lines, markets, and countries.
Today we have the ability to deliver virtually anywhere- at any time.
Providing critical infrastructure. Power. Water. Communications.
So people, businesses, cities, cultures, the world at large, can do more than survive. They can thrive.
That’s engineering. Turning possibility into reality. We will keep changing the world, because Mega-cities demand Mega solutions. Ones that last for the next hundred years.
What makes us who we are? Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Services. Solutions are strong as the people creating them. As individuals and as one.
So think of today as a celebration of the midpoint on our way to a bicentennial.
We know the world will continue to spin, to change. That’s the only constant.
And what do we know about time? Simply that there has been no better time to be a part of Black & Veatch.
