Adding a new variable to a data frame (or a column) is easier than adding an observation. Adding a column happens just like you would expect for lists. Create the vectors and attach them by using the dollar sign ($) or the cbind function in R.

To add a row to a data frame, create a small one-row data frame. Label the variables in the new data frame so they match the variable names in the larger data frame. Use the rbind function to attach the new observation to the bottom of your data frame.
