I am Kristin Atkins. I'm a maternal fetal medicine specialist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology here at UVA Health.
The most exciting thing about what I do is that every day is different. So, one day I may be on labor and delivery. The next day I may be in the office caring for patients, and the next day doing ultrasound.
I believe that it's our responsibility to help the patients to understand what is going on with them while they're pregnant, and so communication is key to having successful outcomes in everything that we do.
From a clinical perspective, I'm most passionate about providing quality care to the patients that I take care of, regardless of where they come from. And I think it's really important to treat everybody with the same respect that they deserve.
