Lampedusa is the largest island of the Italian Pelagie Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. The comune of Lampedusa e Linosa is part of the Sicilian province of Agrigento which also includes the smaller islands of Linosa and Lampione.
Lampedusa is the most southern island of Italy located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. It is 12km long but only 3km wide. It has been inhabited by the Fenician, Greeks, Romans, Arabs and in 1860 it became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
