In this video we discuss how to improve the network performance or throughput on your Windows machine. This tweak works for Windows 7, 8.1, 10, and 11. We walk through editing the registry to achieve this boost.
The I/O Request Packet Stack Size (IRPStackSize) refers to how many 36-byte receive buffers your computer can use simultaneously. A larger number of buffers means your computer can handle more data simultaneously, which, in theory, should make your computer perform more efficiently.
We will edit the following registry key:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
You can download the .reg file to quickly apply this tweak to your system. Please make a full backup of your system before attempting these instructions or applying the registry changes contained in the file:
