First video in a series of live streams created for iOS and macOS developers, where we take a look at how you can use your apps to control bluetooth and wifi enabled devices.
We'll take a look at writing firmware for these devices, connecting sensors, and streaming that information back to an app that we create.
This first video covers the "ideas" and some motivations around these devices and what we can do with them. We also take a look at a few devices, the board layouts the various components and what to expect from future videos.
Also includes a very brief introduction to reading schematics. However, the schematics will only play a small part in this series.
Working with hardware at this level is super easy. If you already have a programmers mindset, it's not that different from programming an iPhone.
The hardware we'll be using is off the shelf parts like the Raspberry Pi Pico W and ESP32 development boards. Next video we'll take a look at the IDE for programming these chips. Much like Xcode you have different libraries for different chips and sensors.
After this series you should have enough experience to control other items in your home, or even create your own hardware products that have a paired app!
