Add Video to Webpages with Video and iFrame Elements
► Embedding video was not always an easy endeavor. Before HTML5, web browsers did not have a universal standard for defining media files as we do now and the web was short on the rich interactive media experiences we take for granted.
Now we have the HTML video and iframe elements which give us two different ways to include video on our web pages.
The iframe element allows us to embed one web page or parts of a web page into another. Websites like YouTube and Vimeo give us a selection of options to use the iframe element to embed their videos on our web pages.
The HTML video element allows us to add videos to our web pages from a local source - like from our own computer.
We will look at how we can adjust the size of a video and make it responsive. We also learn how to add video controls using attributes and how to make videos autoplay and loop.
