Count Dooku's eyes widen as the door to his room opens, revealing Ventresses cold yellow eyes.
Dooku: Ventress?
Ventress: That's no way to treat your apprentice. I should know.
Dooku: Savage, you can make amends for your mistake, by destroying this witch.
As Dooku ignites his lightsaber and prepares to fight, he's surprised to hear Ventress laughing at his command.
Savage watches the two in confusion just as Ventress approaches.
Ventress: Laughing. I don't think that will be happening. Will it, Savage? Remember where your true loyalties lie.
Savage: With you, mistress.
As she taps his forehead, Savage looks like he is waking up from a trance. Slowly, he turns to Dooku and ignites his lightsaber. Ventress smiles cruelly, and Dooku immediately realizes he's been deceived. All this time, Ventress has been playing him for a fool.
He shakes those thoughts from his head and readies himself. After this, he'll find a worthy apprentice. But only after these two are dead.
Ventress lunges at Dooku, her blades a whirling flurry of red. Dooku blocks her strikes, but before he can counter, Savage attacks from the opposite side, barreling towards the Count, who barely sidesteps his swing.
Dooku is forced to divide his attention as the two come again. His movements are precise and calculated, blocking and countering their relentless assault. Though Savage is inexperienced, his attacks are powerful, and Dooku must be careful to avoid getting hit.
The sounds of clashing lightsabers and the hum of the Force fill his quarters. Ventress and Savage coordinate their attacks, their strikes becoming increasingly aggressive as they find their rhythm.
Ventress leaps over Dooku, aiming a slash at his head. Dooku ducks under the blow but leaves himself exposed as Savage delivers a brutal kick to his midsection, sending him staggering backward.
Dooku: Impressive... but not enough!
Dooku channels a surge of Force lightning at Savage, who drops to the ground. Electricity courses through his body as he screams in pain. Ventress seizes the opportunity, darting forward and slashing at Dooku's arm. He blocks her attack, but the effort cuts his concentration. Savage recovers and brings his lightsaber down on Dooku's hand, severing it at the wrist.
Using his remaining hand, Dooku tries to block Savage's attacks, but sheer force sends him flying back into Ventress, who slices off his other hand, leaving him defenseless. Her eyes burn with rage as she stares him down.
In one swift motion, she plunges her lightsaber into Dooku's chest. His eyes widen in shock before going limp and dropping to the floor.
The two quickly depart, not wanting to risk a fight with the Jedi while they are exhausted, and escape back to Dathomir, where Mother Talzin welcomes them.
She's pleased to hear about their mission, but she knows that Dooku is just a pawn of Sidious. To defeat him would require more planning. For a while, she continues to train Ventress and Savage in their dark magic and how to channel it through the Dark Side.
While they train, Talzin begins crafting an amulet to help track down Darth Maul.
Talzin: Two, there are always two Sith. You have defeated the apprentice, but the master shall not come so easily. Once, Darth Sidious approached me and offered the Nightsisters power. But instead, he took my son from me, and I shall have him back.
Savage: We shall do whatever it takes to complete this mission, Mother.
Talzin: "Then take this amulet. It will be your guide to your lost brother. Go, my children, for only together can Dathomir take its rightful place in the galaxy."
While the two begin their search, events are changing across the galaxy. Without Dooku to lead the CIS, the war swung firmly in favor of the Republic. Though Grievous and other leaders try to take control, no one has Dooku's political skills, military capabilities, or intelligence.
The Republic quickly begins gaining ground, making multiple advances across Separatist territory and capturing important leaders. This is a troublesome development for Palpatine, as the war could end sooner and with an outright Republic victory.
He realizes he must provide the CIS with effective leadership to stabilize their war effort. Palpatine decides to reach out to some old allies. He contacts Mother Talzin and her Nightsisters.
Palpatine: "Mother Talzin. It has been too long."
Talzin: Indeed, Darth Sidious. What brings you to my domain?
