We're going to be installing these premium interior dome light kits from Putco on this 2013 GMC Sierra Denali. The tools we're going to need for this job are a screwdriver so that we can get the lenses off and a pair of pliers to pull out the old bulbs, because we don't want to have to touch those because they'll be very hot. And then, of course, these are the
plates that go in to replace the dome lights.
The first step now that we're in the vehicle is to go ahead and remove this lens from this front dome light. And what we're going to do is we're just going to gently pry on it right by the tabs because we don't want to break the tabs. And now, because we've just gotten into this vehicle and these bulbs are probably hot, I'm going to go ahead and grab them out of there with my pliers rather than my fingers.
The next step is to install our new Putco interior dome lights. As you can see, these look to be like one solid piece, but they're actually two that you have to snap in order to install them. The L-shaped ones are for the front dome light. These things on the back clip into the spot where we just pulled our old light bulbs from. So what we do is we snap these rings into these spots in the factory light.
Now we replace our cover. And there you have it, our front dome light is complete.
Now that we've got our front dome light replaced, we're going to go ahead and do this rear one. Now you want to be careful not to break the tab on this rear one because it does not come completely out. It has a hinge on the driver side of the light. I'm going to go ahead and grab my pliers, remove the old bulbs, and just as we did with the front one, we'll snap it, and we'll install one side at a time.
Now, as you can see, these actually sit in here at an angle. So when you put them in, they'll be at a slight angle. They won't be straight across. And now we'll go ahead and close this up.
