To use the word count feature in Microsoft Word, follow these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Word and navigate to the document for which you want to find the word count.

2. Look for the "Word Count" feature located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. It is displayed as a number followed by the word "Words."

3. Click on the word count. A small window will appear, providing additional information about the document's word count, character count (with and without spaces), paragraph count, and the number of lines.

4. If you want to find the word count for a specific portion of the document, select the desired text by clicking and dragging the cursor over it.
You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + A to select the entire document or Shift + arrow keys to select a specific portion.

5. Once you've made the selection, click on the word count in the lower left-hand corner again. The additional information window will update to display the word count specifically for the selected text.

By using the word count feature, you can determine the total number of words in a document and get more detailed information about text length. This can be helpful for tracking progress, meeting word count requirements, or analyzing the content of your document.
