Learn to Use Shapes with the Pathfinder Tool
The process of re-creating logos in Adobe Illustrator is a great way to practice those new skills you're trying to learn. This video will show you how to make a perfect Target logo.

You can draw a perfect circle by holding down the 'Shift' key while drawing the ellipse. Either using the Shape Modes in the Pathfinder panel or making a Compound Path option from the menu we can create a knockout effect too!
