What is a Metaphor?
A metaphor is a figure of speech that compares two or more things without using the words “like” or “as” (so it’s a little different from a simile). Metaphors are used in a way that isn’t really true, but helps explain an idea or make a comparison.
What is the purpose of Metaphors?
Writers use metaphors to encourage the reader to use their imagination. Metaphors help is to see things in a different way. A metaphor can be used to set a scene or express a mood or feeling.
