01/03/2023 - I am now running "Main" 3.5 version of the OS Channel. Decky Loader is working * perfectly (that was kind of an aside but included since it didn't work on preview 3.4.5). Forza *Horizon 5 is now at least 95% stable. I had one crash in a 2 hour session, and that was within *first 5mins, crashed on starting a race then on restart it was rock solid for the remainder of the 2 *hour gaming.
Looks like we have a mainline fix if you update 3.5.

21/01/2023 - 3.4.5 Stable OS now works with Forza Horizon 5 - Game is a bit slow in loading but no blank screen issue.
Good news is that because its working on Stable branch you'll now get access to your Decky Loader again.
Although be aware after 5mins you'll notice the cog for update will show again, and want to apply 3.4.4. I'm just ignoring it, 3.4.4 does not work with FH5.

18/01/2023 - Preview update (OS 3.4.5) dated 16/01/23 works with Forza Horizon 5, Build ID 10031272 and Letting the Deck work out its own proton level (leave it blank in game compatibility settings). Unfortunately this means if you use Deck Loader, well you don't now, because it disappears under Preview version.
Sorry its not better news, but at least you can play with those settings. Raced about for over an hour and no game crashes either. 👍

10/01/2023 - I'm now seeing reports of players having issues with 3.4.4 showing the black screen. It seems we have a bit of a moving feast of an issue here with the black screen issue. I am however currently testing 3.4.5 in the Preview channel and this is working for me in Forza Horizon 5!
So if you are still having problems, switch to preview channel, update to OS 3.4.5 and restart your Deck and test. Report back your findings if unsuccessful.
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR VERSON STEAM OS 3.4. IF YOU'VE UPDATED TO 3.4.3 THEN YOU NEED TO USE THE PREVIEW RELEASE TO GET FORZA HORIZON 5 WORKING AGAIN. INSTRUCTIONS STILL WORK JUST CHANGE 3.4 STABLE FOR 3.4.3 PREVIEW WHILE FOLLOWING THEM. ENJOY YOUR CHRISTMAS RACING!!!!
