Battle of Austerlitz, location of Russian HQ at Krenovice
During the Battle of Austerlitz, this house just off the square in the village of Krenovice was the Russian HQ.
The centre of the village of Krenovice is dominated by a statue of the Russian general Kutusov. 120 metres from the statue we find the house that was used as the Russian HQ where the plan of battle was drawn up the previous night. Kutusov paid little attention to the plan, we went to sleep during the meeting as the tsar and his advisors decided how the battle would be fought. Kutusov warned against it, the tsar overruled him and then blamed Kutusov for the defeat.
The house is still in use today but there is a big sign in Russian and Czech outside.
