Quick demonstration of automating the creation of focus stacks on Nikon Z bodies by allowing the user to set both the starting point (nearest focus) and ending point (furthest focus) visually in the camera, in contrast to the in-camera implementation where the user can only set the starting point, with the ending focus (furthest) determined by trial and error via the "number of shots" setting. This POC is implemented in a Bash script and uses gphoto2 to control the camera remotely over USB, although it would work over a WiFi MTP connection as well. The presentation ends with the stacked images imported into Helicon Focus.
