Have you ever mounted an external drive and then tried to write to it and get a permission denied error? Sometimes you can just do a chmod of the directory to add the write permission and fixes everything. Sometimes you try to chmod and it doesnt work. What’s the deal? In this video, we will look at the umask utility which will help you understand what’s going on.
