The death toll in Vietnam from Super Typhoon Yagi has risen to at least 21 people as the ongoing downpours continue to threaten many regions of northern Vietnam with ongoing flood risk. Millions of people suffered power outages, while violent gusts damaged trees, power lines and buildings in major cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. Freelance journalist Khanh Minh Le says the weather event is the worst storm he has ever seen and the extent of damage is ‘unimaginable’.
