Portable 9ah Battery Power & DIY Field Antenna - Yaesu FT-857D
Portable battery power and DIY field antenna for the Yaesu FT-857D ham radio from David / USNERDOC / KF7ETX. This video shows a simple inexpensive portable battery power supply using Anderson Powerole® Connectors for the Yaesu FT-857D. Of course this is also the perfect set-up for other transceivers. 9 amp hours will only give you a short operating time but that could be all you need in an disaster setting. The system can be scaled up to provide more capacity and longer operating time.
This is one more step in the process of self-reliance and making this great radio, or a radio of your choice, ready for more remote portable operations.
The battery was purchased at a local HAM swap meet for $8.
