While Drupal's Views Bulk Operations (VBO) module is great for actions like publishing and unpublishing content, it can't update field values. Views Bulk Edit provides this functionality as an add-on to VBO.
To use Views Bulk Edit, you must have both Views Bulk Operations and Views Bulk Edit installed and running together.
Here's how to use Views Bulk Edit:
1. Install the module: Download and install Views Bulk Edit. Make sure you have Views Bulk Operations already installed.
2. Open a view: Go to a view that uses Views Bulk Operations and edit the field. You'll notice a new option called "Modify field values". You can change the label if needed.
3. Apply the action: Click "Apply" to add the "Modify field values" action to your view.
4. Select content: Choose the items you want to edit in your view.
5. Choose "Modify field values": From the "Action" dropdown, select "Modify field values". This will take you to a new page.
6. Select a field and adjust the value: On this new page, you can choose the field you want to modify and enter the new value. This value will be applied to all the selected content.
For instance, you could select "Tags" as the field and input a new tag. When you click "Apply", this new tag will be added to all the chosen content pieces.
If you often need to update fields in bulk using VBO, the Views Bulk Edit module is a valuable addition to your Drupal toolkit.
