The leg press is a solid leg exercise for mass as long as you're doing it properly. One area to pay attention to with your leg press form is your foot position. It's a common bodybuilding myth that using a wider stance will target the inner quads and a narrow stance will target the outer quads. This is not something to bother with during your quad workouts, as you can't specifically emphasize which area of the quads is trained. It's also a common leg press mistake to think that a high foot position will train the hamstrings. Regardless of how you perform leg presses during your leg routine, you cannot hit the hamstrings. If you want to build leg muscle effectively with the leg press machine, the only thing to consider with foot position is that placing your feet high will give you more of a glute workout and placing them lower will give you more of a quad workout.
