Shifting Research to Address Issues of Equity in Public Safety
In November 2023, the AIR Equity Initiative hosted a luncheon at the American Society for Criminology’s annual conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this snapshot of the event, AIR Scholar Odis Johnson Jr. calls for a shift in research and describes how the AIR Equity Initiative is uniquely equipped to make a difference on issues of equity in public safety. In addition, Rashawn Ray, AIR vice president and executive director of the AIR Equity Initiative, highlights the importance of building strong relationships to ensure sustainable change in communities.
