Citizen Kane is arguably the greatest film of all time. I think this is the main argument as to why it is considered a masterpiece! It sits right at the intersection of French film theory and Russian montage theory.
Orson Welles is, honestly, one of my favourite directors as well (or 'as welle'?). I recorded this video a little while back and just yesterday Hbomberguy released his video about directors cuts which started with a 4 minute segment on Citizen Kane. Got me super nervous.
