Working with Teammates in TrialLine (2021)
Hello, this is Leb from TrialLine and today I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about working with teammates in TrialLine, and what the different permissions are for each possible teammate role.
TrialLine users have the ability to add teammates to their account that can help build and collaborate with them on their TrialLines. This could be a paralegal helping enter information related to a personal injury case, or even an actual client creating a relationship timeline for a divorce case. However you use the teammate feature, you’ll find this is a helpful collaboration tool that will save you time and money.
Teammates can take one of three roles, "Manager", "Staff" and “Guest User”, and each of these roles have different account permissions that govern the actions each role is able to take in the account. It’s important to note that these roles are different from the fourth possible role, which is the account "Owner".
Owner: There is only one Owner per TrialLine account. The Owner is generally the person who first sets up the initial TrialLine subscription and provides the payment method and billing authorization. The Owner can create additional Manager, Staff, and Guest teammate accounts from their Dashboard. Owners can also create new TrialLines within their accounts, and can share TrialLines with outside people, via email invitations or links.
Manager: Managers can create new teammate subscriptions as well as share TrialLines with the Owner, Staff, and Guests for collaboration online or in the office. Staff: Staff cannot create new TrialLine teammate subscriptions. Staff can work on TrialLines shared with them by Managers or Owners, and can also create new TrialLines and share TrialLines with outside people, via email invitations or weblinks.
Guest: Guests cannot create new TrialLines teammate subscriptions and do not have the authority to create new charges. Guests cannot create new TrialLines, and they can only work on a single TrialLine that has been shared with them by a Manager or Owner. Guests cannot share TrialLines with anyone, and they can only see the single TrialLine that has been shared with them.
To create new, and also see existing teammates, go to the "Team" tab in your TrialLine dashboard. Here you'll see all current users, their email addresses, their assigned roles and whether or not they have verified their account. You'll also be able to delete users here as well.
To create a new teammate, click the "Create New Teammate" button, and fill out the form with the teammate's user information, then determine what level of access you want them to have (Manager, Staff or Guest User).
If they’re going to be a Manager or Staff team member, select which subscription plan they’ll be assigned to. Be aware that if you are a month-to-month user, your team member will also have to be in a month-to-month subscription plan. If you are in an annual subscription plan, you can select either month-to-month or annual subscription plans for your teammates.
Once created, the new teammate will receive an email asking them to confirm their email address and set their account password.
Once they confirm their email address, they'll be able to log into TriaLine, but in order for them to see the TrialLine they are collaborating with you on, you'll need to give them access to that particular TrialLine. From your dashboard, click the 'Edit' button for the appropriate TrialLine.
In the next window, click on the "Manage Team" tab, then click the "Give Access" button for the appropriate user, and save your changes:
That user will now see the timeline you want them to collaborate with you on in their dashboard.
