It’s time for the muscled, sweaty and persistently neurotic stars of the Glorious Wrestling Alliance to elbow drop onto your tabletop with Glorious Wrestling Alliance: Ultrabrawl, a fast-and-frantic card game that pits larger-than life-competitors against each other in choreographed, in-ring combat (a.k.a: wrestling!)
Designed by Josh Hicks (me!) and Tinkerbot Games' Bevan Clatworthy, Ultrabrawl gives you the chance to play as one of six of the GWA’s best and brightest as you bring the honour, passion and pageantry of the squared circle to life.
Link together flowing combos to wear down your opponent, win over the crowd to build up momentum and turn the tide with carefully timed blocks and reversals. Think you’ve got them on the ropes? Execute unique finishing manoeuvres and close out the match with a pin or submission – then bask in the rapturous applause and watch the roof explode off the stadium/arena/modestly sized gymnasium.

Glorious Wrestling Alliance: Ultrabrawl is all about players taking turns to line up combinations of wrestling moves in order to beat down their opponent. Players have access to a variety of wrestling techniques in the form of Move Cards -- from suplexes and dropkicks to moments of quiet introspection and cutlery-based stabbings -- that they can use to deal damage and build up crowd momentum.
After successfully dealing damage to their opponent, players take cards from the Move Deck and place them face down in their opponent's Damage Pile. To guard against enemy attacks, submissions and pins, players will need to roll a given number of dice against the amount of damage they've accumulated.
If a player has four cards in their Damage Pile, for instance, they'll need to roll a five or higher to reverse moves or kick out of a pin. Momentum, on the other hand, allows players to use special techniques and unleash their powerful finishing moves.
Moves that are more difficult to pull off give opponents multiple dice to try to reverse. An UItrabrawl match follows the rhythms and structure of a real wrestling match, with the big moves often only being viable once an opponent is well and truly battered. A pinned opponent gets to roll 3 dice in succession to kick out before losing the match.
The colour-based combo system and simple icon-driven move descriptions mean that Ultrabrawl is easy to learn, quick to play and fun to master. What's more, the game includes additional cards and rules for tag team, triple-threat and fatal four-way play, so once you've gotten to grips with singles contests you can pummel and embarrass multiple friends at once!
