In this video I'm going to show you how to make a intelligent automatic hand sanitizer dispenser machine.This is the answer to everyone who is struggling with some kind of diy automatic sanitizer dispenser machine having stability and sensitivity issues. So that is the reason I'm doing this video.
That kind of machine's got million's of views and many peoples believe's that and they tried it and they fond some issues like this. which is given below.
1, overflowing sanitizer when they are not placed their hand's under the sensor.
2,when they place their hand's under the sensor the sanitizer will flow all the time they hold.
3,The sanitizer is overflowing when the machine is placed outdoor or the area's having light's etc ++++++++.
All this problems are happens because of the use or wrong sensor for their application and that kind of stuff doesn't have any intelligent control over it.
maybe wrapping a black tape over the infrared sensor may fix their problem.
but i say infrared sensors especially the cheap ones are not good for the outdoor application and also not good for the areas have light's have infrared that is enough to trigger that kind of sensors.
In our machine doesn't have any problems.because we are using an Ultrasonic sensor (HC-SR04) and have a Microcontroller (Arduino uno) That have the program which make's the system intelligent. So i developed a program.we can call that firmware.in that program i defined every activity and event's happens when peoples using our machine.and also i given a knob. to control the flow of the sanitizer.So you can adjust the level of the sanitizer flow to your required level.
Our Machine will detect your hand and also identify if you are holding your hand under the sensor or not. So if you are holding your hand under the sensor you get the same level of sanitizer as you get by just placing your hand under the sensor.There is no overflow of sanitizer.
Here we are using Ultrasonic sensor it is not sensitive to light. So we can use this for both indoor and outdoor applications. doesn't matter if the area have light or not.The sensor have a transmitter and receiver. transmitter transmit the ultrasound frequency and receiver receive the reflected echo of the same ultrasound frequency transmitted.
We are going to transmit a sound simultaneously we are going to count the time and we are going to stop the timer when we get the reflected echo of that sound. Then we got the total time taken of the sound travel from the transmitter to receiver after sound reflected back from the object. by this way we got the total time of the sound travel.
Here we know the speed of sound which is 344 m/s and we got the total time taken for the sound travel. divide that by 2 we got the time taken for the sound to reach the object or object to reach the receiver. So put all together
by this formula we can calculate the Distance
Then Distance = Speed x Total time taken /2
So we got the accurate distance from the object to the sensor. here the object is our hand.
we are calculating the distance from the hand to the sensor. That is the way the machine identify your hand is placed,removed or you are holding.
That's why i recommended you to keep same pipe length and sensor to machine bottom height as per this video . you can increase the height a bit but don't decrease it that will cause you trouble.
place your hand about less than or equals 15 cm from the sensor the machine identify. you placed your hand.
if your hand is staying between 1 to 26 cm the machine identify. you are placed your hand and holding your hand.
if you removed the hand from the sensor the sensor read the distance from the floor to the sensor which is always greater than or equals 27 cm anyway. because our machine height is 30 cm .
That's why i recommended the total height from the sensor to the bottom of the machine 30 cm.
To pumping the sanitizer here we are using a 3 to 6 volt mini submersible pump. and a 2N7000A mosfet to drive the motor and some resistance to help the 2N7000A and Arduino for the proper operation.
Then how to control the flow of sanitizer ?. there is two way to do that. one is control the speed of the motor using pwm. another one is turn ON the motor for a particular time and then leave it OFF.
Here we are using the on and off method not pwm. here you can control the on time of the motor is about 600 milliseconds to 2500 milliseconds by adjusting the 10k Potentiometer. that is more than enough for this machine.
