'Young LTTE cadres in disarray' : escaped Fishermen
Many young LTTE cadres who remain within the outfit are disgusted of their organization. Fishermen who escaped from the tigers have made this claim. (30/03/2008)
One fisherman pointed out that the terrorists were humiliating the parents of the young cadres if they deserted the outfit. This forced them to serve the tigers. Sinhala fishermen who managed to escape from the clutches of the LTTE revealed that the young cadres frequently expressed such views.
The LTTE had detained 11 fishermen for more than one year. They had gone out on fishing from areas such as Kalpitiya, Tangalla And Negombo. LTTE terrorists who were in the camp where they were detained are disillusioned with the outfit. But they are not in a position to marginalise the organization. The LTTE would detain their parents and torture them if they deserted the outfit. These young LTTE cadres had also mentioned that their future was bleak in the face of heavy attacks unleashed by the security forces.
