Engage your core THE RIGHT WAY! Don't just suck in your tummy, zip up (pelvic floor first)! This integrates the entire core "team" and provides you with the most stability and support. Zip up whenever you need extra core control. Examples: when you're pushing, pulling, lifting things, using your balance, or when you're doing core exercises.

PS: Don't zip up all day long! Lots of people ask me if they should keep their core tight all day. NO! It is important to keep your pelvic floor and the rest of your core strong, supple, and resilient but you should be able to breathe and move normally. You should NOT suck in your stomach and hold your breath all day long. The "zipping up" that I show in this video is for when you need to activate your core a little EXTRA... when you're pushing, pulling, lifting, balancing, or doing core exercises. Otherwise, just keep moving every day, breathing well, and maintaining good posture/alignment and your core should be at the perfect level of tension!
