For years I was in charge of the training of the attorneys at the LA DA’s Office. Every year I would have a certain expert come to our training seminars and lecture on the latest techniques in catching certain types of criminals. His presentations were so well received that I continually had him return to update our new attorneys. Little did I know what a prolific criminal he really was. All this time he was right under my nose. Later I was brought in to work on the prosecution of the Death Penalty phase of a multiple murder case against him. Yes, this Episode is personal for me since I always thought I was a good judge of character. However, this case shattered my confidence at recognizing a fraud.
