Oberheim OB-X8 vs OB6 // The Definitive Comparison
The Oberheim OB-X8... How gorgeous doe this thing sound? But is it worth double the price of the OB6? How does it differ socially and functionally.
It turns out that functionally they'e completely different synths, but sonically you can tell they're from the same family.
Annoyingly, I really tried to get them to sound the same - the first patch I tried a few times but couldn't get it exact. I knew I'd be accused of doing a sh*t job if they weren't exact, but there you go they're not! Oh yeah and to make things worse the OB6 recorded in mono (I didn't realise in the edit), which doesn't account for the discrepancies - that's all down to how the OBX8 sums the voices and the differences in each. Put it in mono and see for yourself... or watch the rematch!
