Chevy Chase Sandwich (1909) on Sandwiches of History
Either this sandwich was named after the time-traveling comedian Chevy Chase or Chevy Chase, Maryland. Given that it’s from The Up-To-Date Sandwich Book of 1909, I’m gonna say it’s the latter. Still, it isn’t obvious to me how that name ties in with the ingredients but it was the golden age of exoticism in sandwich naming so perhaps it has nothing at all to do with that location. Oh, and brace yourselves, we’ve got a minus down situation today.
