IKEA LED torch hand driven LJUSA tear down
IKEA LED torch hand-driven LJUSA tear down. I picked this up in a charity shop for 50p. I assumed it was one of those "cheat" generator torches that actually have button cells to provide the power BUT I WAS WRONG, this is the genuine article. The power is generated by winding the handle and stored in a supercapacitor. A few seconds of winding results in several minutes of usable torch light. I am very impressed. At 50p this was a bargain although my disassembly was a bit destructive. I have re-assembled it with the help of superglue so any future disassembly will be even harder.
