Researchers have been using very small molecules called nanoparticles for decades to deliver medications to specific locations in the body. Jordan Jarvis, a postbaccalaureate research fellow in the Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health, is trying to create nanoparticles filled with a medicine called disulfiram that can be used to treat patients with rare skin cancers. Her nanoparticles could one day give those patients a less costly alternative treatment option for defeating their disease.
