How To Insert a Customized Text Watermark in a Word Document
Hi, This is Vi Adkins at www.ForemostResumes.com. In this screencast I'm going to show how to insert a customized text watermark into a Word 2010 document. To get started I've created this new Word document and I have inserted some placeholder text. To add a watermark I go from the Home tab where I am now over to the right, to the Page Layout tab. In the ribbon on the Page Layout tab there is a Watermark tool in the Page Background section. Select the down arrow of the Watermark tool, and at the bottom of the choices select Custom Watermark. In the Printed Watermark window that appears, select Text Watermark. Click on Apply and then click on Close.
The default custom watermark has been inserted that reads ASAP. I want to change the text and I want it to be darker. To do that I double click in the top margin of the document to open the Header/Footer mode. Now when I hover over the watermark, a 4 pointed cursor appears. Select the watermark by clicking on it. The watermark is selected when 8 handles appear around the sides of the watermark object. When the watermark is selected, the WordArt Tools and Header & Footer Tools tab appears at the top of the window. Click on the Format tool. In the WordArt Format ribbon, on the left side, is an Edit Text button. Select that by clicking on it. The Edit WordArt Text window appears. In this window, enter the customized text for the watermark. Enter this text: CONFIDENTIAL, DO NOT DISTRIBUTE, DO ANYONE. I can change the Font. I am selecting Arial. Click OK to exit the dialogue box.
The watermark text is now the way I want it, but it's too dim. To make it darker, go to the WordArt Tools Format ribbon again and click on the down arrow of the Shape Fill Tool. Click on the darkest gray. Drag the watermark higher on the document. To exit the Header/Footer mode, double click the Header tab in the left margin.
