The great construction of the Domus Aurea is mostly hidden underground.
Nero’s successors wanted to erase the memory of his ruling and him as Emperor.
Because of this, a significant portion of the exterior of the build was repurposed, removed, or destroyed.
But there are still great preserved parts of the complex, which gives us a good idea of how magnificent the palace was.
