Adobe Premiere Pro CC is used by people in order to create films and videos and manage to edit them in the needed way. In this video, we are going to focus on the audio part and the different audio effects that could be applied to the sound.
We have to say that sound is very important and it could actually make or break a film; they always say that a not-so-good picture could always be forgiven, but a bad quality of sound will not. You want the audience to hear what the actors of your movie or film are saying in order to pay attention and that's why sound should be always paid great attention to.
There are lots of things to be done with Adobe Premiere when it comes to the sound, such as the sound effects, the ambiance that could be added to the background, the dialogue, the sounds in the background. It is always good to camera record as many original sound effects as you can because you will find out that filming in that environment, the sounds will be more natural and it saves you from having to go and edit those sounds to make them sound more natural.
The first thing we are going to talk about in this video is how to fix a dialogue and how to edit a sound. We will first go to the Assembly and play through the dialogue scene that you have assembled and click on the part of the video related to the sound which you want to edit and as easy as it appears with the picture thing, you could do the editing part of the sound through the 'Effects Control'; just make sure that you have changed the layer to the audio.
Editing the video with Adobe Premiere is actually interesting for the different options that are found there, such as controlling which will be louder, the right speaker or the left one and how high or low it would end up being. This could be done through the Assembly bar by right clicking on the video part and choosing what you want to do, and it could be also controlled through the Effects Control window, it will all depend on which one you consider easier for you to deal with.
Sometimes there are several problems that appear along the video which you might want to solve and deal with, there might be a lot of noise in the back which you want to get rid of, or you just might want to give a base or more crisp sound to your audio. Going to the effects part on the left side of the screen, you will find lots of effects which you could apply to your audio and the ones which we might consider the best include the 'Graphic Equalizer' with the different bands and the more these bands are, the more precise they will be. There is also 'Parametric Equalizer' and 'Vocal Enhancer' which are considered the best ones to use according to our needs and what we have been through with our films and videos.
To show you how good these effects are, we will take you through the journey of exploring the "Graphic Equalizer'. The graphic equalizer might look not understandable for lots of people but it is not hard to deal with as it might look like. Changing the equalizer, you will realize that bringing the bases a little bit up will help in making the audio a lot more clear, but this will also depend on the voice of the actor; we usually bring the base up at the beginning and bring it a little bit down at the end in order not to be very sharp, and eventually leave the middle as it is.
That's how editing the equalizer happens and editing the parametric equalizer is almost the same with giving you the chance to play easily with the sound and change whatever you want about it. We love to stick to the graphic equalizer because it is more manual, although the parametric actually gives you ready-made options which could change the sound for you so easily.
Along editing the audio and making sound effects, one could actually just add a specific sound that is already found in the program and edit the time of it - as you can see the steps through the video - and it could be easily done through dragging the sound down to match the picture or part of the video that you want it to be used on.
The last thing you could add to your sound is the music, it usually comes at the end of the journey. Always pay attention to the layering of the effects and sounds: first the dialogue, the sound effects, your ambiance, and then the other stuff, it will always depend on what best suits you.
