Is TikTok fueling a rise in incorrectly self-diagnosed Dissociative Identity Disorder? Is Dissociative Identity Disorder even a legit diagnosis in the first place? DID has been mired in controversy since its inception. But why? And what does that mean about what we’re seeing today? Well, I’ll be diving into the fascinating debate surrounding this phenomenon and explore the blurred lines between genuine experiences, misleading misdiagnoses, and social media trends.

I think you’ll be pretty surprised by the history of DID, from its pre-psychology roots to Sybil to today’s media landscape. This is not just a critique, but rather an examination of how we look at DID as a whole. While I will be drawing from my own professional experiences and existing data, I can only hope that this video acts as the start of a conversation, rather than as some definitive “answer”. If you’ve got an opinion on DID, please share it in the comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially from those who might be living with DID.
